Siblings

Words by Molly Day

South London’s Siblings return with 'In The Middle Of The Night', a dynamic track that showcases their distinctive fusion of folk warmth and rock energy. With appealingly vague vocal harmonies and organic acoustic textures, the song propels the band into an exciting new chapter while staying true to the storytelling at their core.

Opening with a fuzzy, '70s-style synth layered over hypnotic piano loops, the track quickly gives way into immersive acoustic strumming and an off-kilter rhythm section, all providing the perfect backdrop for Theo DW’s dreamy, emotive vocals. Recorded at Strange Melody Recording—the creative home of drummer/producer Ben Andrewes and guitarist/keys player Rob Fenner—this latest release highlights Siblings’ knack for blending timeless songwriting with intricate production and an undeniable sense of momentum. Every element is carefully placed, from the fuzzed-out bass anchoring the track to the subtle textures that emerge on repeated listens.

At its core, 'In The Middle Of The Night' is undeniably a love song. On its inspiration, Theo describes the song as “…a hand reaching out across the water, written for my partner, Juliette. The chorus came first, and after some soul-searching, the verses followed.” This sense of honesty and introspection seeps throughout the atmosphere of the track.

Siblings describe their sound as one that merges ethereal folk, '70s-style storytelling, and the atmospheric textures of spirit jazz. Their music thrives on contrast—earthy yet otherworldly, detailed yet spacious. 'In The Middle Of The Night' is a testament to this balance, and to the band’s ability to shape an intimate yet expansive sonic world, further carving out their place in the indie folk-rock landscape.
